Today was the much expected day in which we all found out exactly where everyone was going to play in the Big Ten. I, for one, was extremely confident I knew where everyone would play, but I was great to see it out so everyone knew. The divisions names will be announced at a later time, but the divisions will be seperated as such: the first division will feature Illinois, Indiana, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue and Wisconsin, and the second division will feature Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska and Northwestern. I think the divisions are setup great, and I will be looking forward to the Nebraska meeting so we can get some redemption for past occurrences; the 1997 season.
The specifications are, each school will play the other five schools within the division they play in, and will face three teams from the other division (to be named later). The guaranteed cross-division matchups are Illinois-Northwestern, Indiana-Michigan State, Ohio State-Michigan, Penn State-Nebraska, Wisconsin-Minnesota and Purdue-Iowa. On another note, the schedules were released, and rest assured, Michigan will be meeting Ohio State at the end of the season. Many people were worried about the matchup being in October; however, we don't know exactly what the future beyond the 2012 season holds. Time will tell. It's time to put the pieces of the puzzle back together, and have a productive year! All in favor, ALL HAIL to Michigan!

Tonight is a great night to be a University of Michigan Wolverine lacrosse player. The Wolverines capped off their season by winning their third straight MCLA National Championship in typical Michigan fashion. Everyone can see the excitment above in the picture provided by Ross Prohaska. The game was set to be exciting due to how good the ASU team is. ASU is led by the Westfall brothers, and their coach, Chris Malone. ASU and Michigan met earlier in the season, and the Wolverines won by one goal in an exciting game. This game turned out to be another close one, and closed out exactly how I thought it would. ASU started the game by winning the first few face offs, and scored the first goal to set the pace. However, Michigan stayed strong throughout the first quarter, and was down 5-4 at the end of the first quarter.
Paras broke Michigan out of their slump, and tied the game up towards the start of the second quarter. Michigan had a few long possessions, and got many shots on the ASU goaltender. However, they just couldn't find the back of the net. Yealy made a circus shot to put Michigan up 6-5 with 1:55 left in the half. The half would end with both teams looking strong, and the score 6-5 in the Wolverines favor. More...

The University of Michigan Men's lacrosse team took on Chapman tonight. The game was set to be a great matchup, but little did everyone know the field was going to be like a slip-n-slide. The temperature's were freezing, yet the players desire to win was burning hot. Michigan started out pretty well going up 4-1 early, and kept their foot on the pedal into the half. They came out in the second half motivated, but did not play as well as they did in the first half. Chapman was obviously not going to just give up, and they fought to within two goals to end the game. The final was 12-10, and Michigan will go on to play Arizona State tomorrow night on FCS. Check your local listings. More...

The Wolverines had a full day off before they had to play BYU. It obviously paid off as the Wolverines dominated BYU 16-11 to advance to the semi-final round and play Chapman. Michigan played strong most of the game, and had a good ride to cause a few turnovers. The Wolverines would have won by quite a bit more, however, some passes in front of the crease were hard to handle. Yealy and Paras lead Michigan in scoring for the game, and Yealy showed why he is an All-American caliber player. Yealy scored a total of 7 goals throughout the game, and could not be stopped. He was too shift for the BYU defenders to handle.
The defense for Michigan played pretty well, and let a few balls go into the net because of their ride. Michigan usually rides teams and creates many turnovers, however, it led to fast transition goals for BYU in a few occassions. BYU had great speed throughout, but were outplayed thoroughly. More...

The Michigan Men's Lacrosse team was victorious in their first round game against Texas State tonight. They came into the game relaxed, and left the game very pleased with their efforts. Michigan has been dominating teams since their loss to Colorado, and it doesn't seem likely they will make the same mistakes here in the playoffs. The weather in Denver wasn't the best tonight, however, the Wolverines were prepared for battle and overcame the elements.
The final score was 19-3, and the game was not very close at all. Michigan rode Texas State like every other team they have this year, and created numerous turnovers to propel ahead into tomorrow. The Wolverines will face the winner of the BYU/Michigan State game, both of which they have beaten earlier this season. Michigan recently beat MSU to win the CCLA crown in Saline, MI. This next round will present numerous obstacle's because BYU has won it all before, and may be seeking revenge. Likewise, the Spartans will be wanting a third try at the Wolverines to settle the score and knock them out to prevent them from winning three championships straight. More...

The #1 Wolverines headed out to East Grand Rapids High School to take on their in-state rival, Michigan State. I did not think MSU would be much of a challenge, however, they played pretty well. The Spartans started off the game fast, and it seemed they caught Michigan off guard. MSU got out to an early lead, and it was starting to look dim for the Wolverines. However, John Paul's philosophy is to never give up. The Wolverines did exactly what they needed to in order to take over the lead in the 2nd quarter.
Michigan was riding MSU hard, and put a lot of pressure on the Spartans when they were trying to clear the ball out of their defensive side. The Wolverines scored a couple goals with the pressure they put on MSU, and those goals showed to be exactly what won Michigan the game. The entire second half was nothing but defense. Both teams played very hard, and showed they truly wanted to come out on top. Each team's defense caused many turnovers, but Michigan's persistant riding allowed them to have enough possession's to put the game out of reach. The Wolverines finished the season strong after losing to Colorado, and the post-season will start very soon. I anticipate Michigan will make a strong run through the playoffs, so stay tuned! More...

The #1 Michigan Men's Lacrosse team came home for a big game against Purdue. The Wolverines were looking to finish the season strong, and win convincingly. However, I don't think Michigan knew they would dominate the Boilermakers so easily. The Wolverines started off fast as Michigan was leading 7-0 halfway through the first quarter.
The Boilermakers looked as if they got boiled by the Michigan defense, and Purdue could not put together any possessions as Michigan rode them into submission. The Wolverines offense was very strong, even though they let off the gas in the second half. They had some turnovers, but they did not amount to anything for Purdue. More...

The Wolverines headed to Colorado with great confidence, and left the game asking many questions. For the first time in almost 3 years, Michigan lost a game. The Wolverines got off to a slow start, and got behind early. Michigan was trying hard to mount a comeback, but just couldn't pull it together. It was all for not, and they came up just 2 goals short in the loss with a final of 12-10.
The early deficit proved to be too much, and Michigan did not look as dominant when they were playing from behind. The Wolverines did very well statistically, however, it did not translate on the field in the amount of goals they had. Colorado had a great strategy. Make the Wolverines go through what they put other teams through. Colorado rode the Wolverines hard on defense, and made Michigan run while Colorado was on offense. It was a great strategy, and it paid of with a huge upset. More...

The #1 Wolverines will be heading west to take on Colorado tonight. Trevor Yealy and Thomas Paras will lead the attack against the Colorado Defense. I anticipate Michigan will not have very many issues overcoming any pressure the Buffalos have to offer. Colorado has not had a great season by any means, and have lost their last four games. A couple of their past games have been against top teams in the MCLA, but this season has been very uncharacterisitic of the Buffalos.
Michigan, however, has been dominating as of late, and no one can stop Trevor Yealy. He is one of the leading players in the nation for points per game, and it doesn't look like he will stop until the Wolverines have their third straight championship. I am anticipating the faceoff guru, David "Rhino" Reinhard, will have another great game at the center of the field. He is unstoppable, and very few teams have even challeneged him this year. Thomas Paras is starting to show he is the most balanced attackman the Wolverines have, and has a great deal of assists and goals. I have heard many people coversating on the fact Trevor Yealy only has 2 assists, and the rest of his points are from goals. However, no one has been able to stop Yealy, so why would he need to pass it when he scored at a high rate? More...

The Wolverines traveled to The Patriot Cup expecting to be playing in a decently warm stadium. However, it was far from warm, or even comfortable. Michigan had to overcome the freezing temperatures, high winds, and sideways snow to knock out another win against the Ducks.
The Wolverines were trying to ride Oregon into many turnovers, but the weather complicated efforts on both teams to score, and even to defend. The field was a little less than to be desired, but allowed the players to play some what effectively throughout. Both teams took many shots, but the elements effected everyone's shooting, sending shots wide of the goal.
The game went into overtime, and the Ducks won the opening faceoff only to turn it over. Michigan made use of the turnover, and Yealy quickly scored the winning goal to put an end to the miserable game. All lacrosse players love high-scoring games with plenty of offense. However, no one can account for the weather, and it always effects shots negatively. More...

The upcoming Michigan Lacrosse game against Oregon has more meaning than just to extend their current winning streak. The Wolverines will be traveling to Dallas, Texas to participate in the Patriot Cup. All the proceeds of the event will go to the Wounded Warrior Project, which is a project to help those wounded while serving in our Armed Forces.
The entire event will offer some great lacrosse action, and allow everyone to see just how brave our soldiers really are. I take pride in supporting our Armed Forces because I am a veteran myself. However, some individuals have paid their dues by giving their life, or even becoming disabled due to combat action. One such individual who is being honored at the Patriot Cup is David Guzman. He is a representative of Wounded Warrior, and will be at the event in Dallas. Here is some of his story: More...
