Sean O’Connell, UMGoBlog.com: “The Michigan coaches took there time in deciding which 2014 quarterback would receive an offer. The finalists seemed to be David Cornwell, Michael O’Connor and Wilton Speight. Well on signing day 2013, the Wolverines extended an offer to Speight after a rather brief courtship and Wilton immediately accepted. Although very big, Speight is hardly a statue (he reports a 4.72 40 time) showing good footwork and decent mobility. He has a slight hitch in his throwing motion, but he throws a high arching, effortless deep ball and is very accurate. It’s hard to tell how strong his arm is, but it seems to be more than adequate. I expect Speight to be top 15 at his position before the final 2014 rankings are released.”

ESPN Insider: “We feel Speight has a very good arm, but not a Matthew Stafford-Ryan Mallett type arm. Is a dropback/play-action passer with the movement to change a launch point. He has a calm, cool demeanor in the pocket that displays command and confidence and we feel will be an asset as he matures. Should be one of the top guys in this class on a national level.”

Jon Jennings, UMGoBlog.com: “Simply a special player. You won’t find a more physical corner back prospect in the last 10 years. It would be hard to find any defensive back with his abilities with a ball in his hand as well. Peppers has the speed, athletic ability and strength to play man coverage or bump and run coverage against any wide receiver in the country. Peppers does a great job breaking on the ball, has great hands and is very good against the run. He is a team player, a great leader and has a contagious personality. Jabrill is also a top notch student. There is not much negative about him or his game. However he does seem more fast then quick. He is a phenomenal athlete, but does appear to be a little stiff in the hips. Being so physically mature at his age, does he outgrow the corner back position? Time will tell, but he’s obviously a home run recruit who is deserving of his consensus 5 star rating and #2 overall ranking by ESPN and Rivals.”

One thing that I will add is that Peppers is a great competitor and wants to be the best. I absolutely love this quote: "He compared me to (Woodson) a lot actually, but my goal is that I want to be better than Charles Woodson.” Jabrill is a “Michigan Man” on and off the field and at minimum should be an All-B1G type player.

ESPN Insider: “Whether deployed as an offensive or defensive skill position or as a returner, Peppers is a playmaker with explosive speed, smooth movements and excellent athleticism. He’s very confident in his skills and he should be. This young man is a game changer and could project at a few different positions at the next level but DB, likely corner, might be the spot.”

4-Star QB Recruit Michael O’Connor committed to Penn State Tuesday. In an interview with Black Shoe Diaries, he had the following to say on playing alongside Christian Hackenberg:

“Yes it will be great getting to know him and work with him, he’s a great quarterback. I haven’t got to meet him yet though.”

The Associated Press reports that the trustees at the school are hard at work to lower the sanctions levied against the school.

In an interview, AD David Joyner says he expects current football head coach Bill O’Brien will stay in Happy Valley for a long time.

The University is exploring having a hockey game played at Beaver Stadium in 2014.

The season opener at Syracuse is scheduled to kickoff at 3:30 on August 31st at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.
