Made it to the NFL:
Steve Breaston – Rushed 42 time for 321 yards; scored 2 touchdowns. Caught 156 passes for 1,696 yards; scored 10 touchdowns. Also returned 5 kickoffs and punts for touchdowns during his Michigan career. Drafted in the 5th Rd. of the 2007 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals.
David Harris – Earned All Big Ten status in 2006. Totaled 196 tackles and 3.5 sacks during his Wolverines career. Had a career high 18 tackles vs. Minnesota in 2005. Was drafted in the 2nd Rd. by the New York Jets in the 2007 NFL Draft.
Jason Avant – Emerged during his sophomore season to be the teams second wide receiver. During his senior season, Avant led the team with 82 receptions, 1007 yards; 8 touchdowns. Drafted in the 4th Rd. by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2006 NFL Draft. During the 2009 season, Avant set career highs with 48 receptions, 587 yards; 3 touchdowns. Re-signed for 5 years on March 8, 2010.
Gabriel Watson – Had 92 tackles and 13.0 TFL while starting 17 games for Michigan during his career. Made first team All-Big Ten team twice. Was drafted in the 4th Rd. of the 2006 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals. Has 98 total tackles in 4 pro seasons. After spending 2007 as a starter, Watson has been a back-up the past two seasons.
Mark Bihl – Started 21 games during his Michigan career at center. Signed with the San Diego Chargers briefly in 2007 before being released.
Reuben Riley – Started 29 games during his Michigan career at guard & tackle. Riley has been on the Miami Dolphins, Washington Redskins, New York Giants & Seattle Seahawks practice squads, but has yet to play in a regular season game. On August 7, 2010, he was released by the New York Giants.
Willis Barringer – Started 16 games at Michigan, made 88 tackles and intercepted 3 passes during his time as a Wolverine. Had a tryout with the Detroit Lions before the 2007 NFL Season.
Rondell Biggs – Started 17 games during his Michigan career at outside linebacker and defensive end. Signed with the Carolina Panthers out of college, but was placed on injured reserve 4 months later effectively ending his career. Was the assistant to the assistant academic director last year before being indicted for felony possession of steroids in 2009; later acquitted.
Jeremy Van Alystyne – Contributed 24 total tackles during a career in which he would start 2 games.
Carl Tabb – Started 4 games during his Wolverine career. Had a career high 35 yards receiving against Michigan State in 2005. Tried out for the Detroit Lions and failed to make the team in 2006.
Kevin Murphy – Redshirted his first year and was a back-up until he decided not to come back for his 5th season.
Obi Oluigbo – Totaled 4 tackles during his career and caught 2 passes. Tried out for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and was waived before the 2007 NFL season.
Darnell Hood – Made 36 tackles and forced 3 fumbles during his time at Michigan. Currently works as a personal trainer at a YMCA in the Greater Detroit Area.
Paul Sarantos – Made one tackle during his Michigan career. Was a standout on the track team for his shot put ability.
Brian Thompson – Started 7 games during his Michigan career at fullback after initially starting out as a linebacker.
Mike Kolodziej – Started 6 games during his sophomore and junior seasons at tackle.
Left The Team:
Quinton McCoy – Didn’t qualify and went to prep school for a year. Re-signed in 2003; flunked out.
Tom Berishaj – Left the school in 2003, but returned and is currently (in 2010) a senior at the College of Literature, Science and the Arts.
Matt Gutierrez – After sitting for two seasons behind John Navarre, Gutierrez was set to start the 2004 season as the #1 QB before a torn labrum cost him the job. Freshman Chad Henne took over the signal calling duties and Gutierrez transferred to Division 1-AA Idaho State. Signed with the New England Patriots after going undrafted in the 2007 NFL Draft. Played in 5 games for the Patriots during 2007. Spent 2009 on the Kansas City Chiefs and has signed to play with the Chicago Bears for the 2010 season.
Larry Harrison – Was dismissed from the team after being brought up on four counts of felony indecent exposure. Transferred to North Carolina A&T for his senior season.
Greg Cooper – Had eligibility problems and transferred to Michigan State.
Pierre Rembert – After three years mostly spent behind Chris Perry, Rembert transferred to Division 1-AA Illinois State. Scored 6 touchdowns in a game and rushed for 272 yards setting school records for the Redbirds.
