Five (or seven, thanks to Cass Tech) 2014 Midwest Defensive Recruits to Keep An Eye On

Five 2014 Midwest Offensive Recruits to Keep An Eye On

1. Malik McDowell (DE – Detroit Loyola, MI) – Great sized defensive end prospect with great feet, quickness and speed off of the edge. Knows how to use his hands very well and has a great assortment of pass rushing moves.

2. Dylan Roney (Highlights: DE – Detroit Central Catholic, MI) – High motor kid who plays to the whistle and hustles to the ball. Never takes a play off. Very smart, very quick. Must put on some size.

3. Jake Khoury (DT – Traverse City St. Francis, MI) – Very quick off of the snap. Uses his hands well and plays with good leverage. Still needs to add some size and strength, which is common for young DL.

4. Deon Drake, William White, Gary Hosey and Johnny Miggins (Detroit Cass Tech, MI) – DGary Hosey - Scoutrake is a great OLB prospect who can run sideline to sideline as well as anyone. He has great form when tackling and knows how to lay the lumber. Physically impressive kid. White (Highlights) is also an OLB prospect that possesses similar skills to Drake. White however is a bit bigger and more physical. Hosey, transfer from F.H. Harrison, is the best suited to play the MLB position as he has a solid 6’1” 230 pound build. Miggins (Highlights) is yet another Cass Tech corner. Decent size at 5’11” 180. Miggins is not scared to come up and play the run as he has proven to be a pretty good tackling corner. Not much film out there of him defending the pass yet, but he is certainly one to watch.
