QUOTES
Rich Rodriguez on Jones: “Same high school as Greg Mathews. He’s a bigger guy at safety. Maybe in the future he could play some OLB, but we have some immediate needs at safety.”
Jones on himself: “I’m a hitter. I hit real hard and I’ve got good speed. I react to the ball real quick and have great instincts. I’d like to work on my footwork and steps.”
On committing to U of M: “It wasn’t like I had preplanned going up there. When I took my trip, it just felt like I was at home.” .…”I love Michigan. They have like 110,000 fans come to their games. It’s a big tradition school and I like that.”
ANALYSIS
Scouts, Inc.: “Jones should work for Craftsman because he has all the tools to play strong safety or grow into an outside linebacker. He is an intimidating tall and well put together athlete that stands out on the field. Very aggressive at the safety position; comes up quick on the run. Has good football instincts and can react to the play while he’s on the move.. Likes to hit and really delivers when tackling but needs to be more consistent at bringing his legs; slight tendency to drag the legs after initial contact.. Jones has all the tools to be a very good strong safety or outside linebacker and should excel on defense and on special teams.”
