QUOTES

Gardner on Tate Forcier: “Tate is a real good quarterback. He’s calm, cool and collected. Everything is going crazy and even when he makes mistakes, like everyone does, he comes back and makes big plays.”

On himself: “I’m doing my best and working hard now on everything that has to do with being a quarterback, so when that time comes they are going to have to say, ‘We can’t redshirt him.’ If (a redshirt) comes, it comes, but I’m trying my best to avoid that. I’m just going to go in and if they need me as a freshman, do what I can as a freshman, then take over when my time comes.”

ANALYSIS

Scouts, Inc.: “He is a fantastic prospect athletically and looks great on the hoof. Is the ideal fit for the spread offense and a short controlled passing game that plays off his threat as a runner. He is a gifted D. Gardnerplayer with his legs and can improvise and create positive plays when things break down.. When sound with his footwork, he can be a very steady passer, but when he seems unsettled or gets happy feet he becomes erratic. Overall, you have to be impressed with Gardner’s measurables and athleticism. He can make plays and possesses a lot of raw tools. Like Vince Young there is probably only so much you can do with his throwing mechanics, but lots that can be done with his feet to help him become more conistent. He is green, but talented. Could also play another position.”

Tom Lemming, MaxPreps: “Gardner is an exceptional athlete with great character and outstanding ball skills. He’s perfectly suited for the spread offense. He’s tall and super quick, has excellent field vision and has a nice touch on his deep passes. He has good arm strength and a quick release.”

Tom Luginbill, Scouts. Inc: “Gardner is raw and mechanically unorthodox, but he’s extremely productive and talented. Plus he possesses a great work ethic — he wants to be good. Gardner is big, athletic and the perfect fit for the spread with upside to develop and refine his passing skills.”

Scout: “Athletic quarterback with innate ability to feel pressure and elude defenders. Has good change of direction and is very elusive. Has a nice arm and can make all the throws. Needs work mechanically, but shows good touch on his passes, particularly the deep ball. Is a very smart and poised player who is cool under pressure and in the clutch. Shows good command of the offense and understanding of the game.”

Barry Every, Rivals: “The comparisons to Vince Young and Terrelle Pryor are legit. He throws the ball better than them at the same stage. Camp instructor Matt James told me the three dual-threat quarterbacks at the event, Gardner, Bolden and Barry Brunetti, are the best three they have ever had at the Elite 11.”

  1. This is certainly my initial stop by and I really like what I’m seeing. Your weblog is so much fun to look over, quite compelling as well as informative. I’ll undoubtedly recommend it to my friends. Nevertheless, I did have some problem with the commenting. It kept giving me an problem whenever I clicked on publish comment. I hope, that can be fixed. Many thanks
