ANALYSIS

Sean O’Connell, UMGoBlog.com: "The first thing that I noticed while watching Ron was his incredible hands. It’s pretty amazing how he can just snag the ball out of the air so easily. Thompson also runs very good routes for a tight end and is super smooth. It’s very easy to see why some schools like him at receiver, but I think he projects the best at tight end. Thompson has a lot of potential and was recently ranked as Scout.com’s #5 tight end. He will have to bulk up a little, but I could see him getting early time at the lucky school that gets his pledge."

Allen Trieu, Scout.com: “A matchup problem waiting to happen, Thompson is a tight end-receiver tweener with excellent hands and ball skills. Goes up and gets the ball with the best of them and makes it look easy. Good ability after the catch, although he’s not a blazer. Needs to add strength to his game if he’s going to be a true tight end and be an inline blocker. Could potentially be a receiver for some schools, but projects best to tight end.”
