QUOTES
On Little Caesars Coach Mike Brown: “Mike Brown has pretty much taught me everything about hockey. He’s
coached me the past five years or so, I can’t thank him enough for all that he’s done to get me where I am. I chose to play for Caesars because of the quality of the program and coaching staff.”
What he needs to improve: “I would like to improve on my physical aspect of the game, and my shot strength,”
ANALYSIS
The Scouting News: “Ask any 1991 who they would want on the ice in the last minute of a game, and many say would like AJ Treais on the ice. Treais is a big-time scorer at the youth level of play, who should carry that through to the next level of hockey. Treais should project to be a top six forward in the NCAA ranks. He will most likely be a first unit power play and penalty killing units player by the time he is in his senior season.”
WCHBlog: “I would definitely compare Treais to T.J. Hensick in terms of playing style, but not in terms of talent. I could see Treais getting off to a slow start next season, but eventually becoming a nice playmaker for Michigan.”
NHL Central Scouting: “Rates Treais as a ‘C’ prospect — a player who could be chosen in the late rounds of the 2009 NHL Draft.”
U of M Associate Head Coach Mel Pearson: “A.J. Treais is a smaller player, dynamic, highly skilled. He’s not unlike some of the kids we’ve had like T.J. Hensick, Mike Comrie, Mike Cammalleri, Louie Caporusso—he’s along that line. He’s not a really big player, but he’s very talented. He has excellent stick skills. He’s a guy who I think can really add something on the power play down the road.”
Hockey’s Future: “Treais is small but very energetic. Solid on his skates and seems to have the puck a lot. It’s impossible to miss him on the ice.”
