ANALYSIS

WCHBlog: “Lynch is a tough player to peg because his style is a bit unorthodox, but he does a lot of positive things on both ends of the ice that an NHL team would value. Plus, quite strangely, Lynch is like the only American player heading to a college that I’ve ever seen the Red Line Report be positive about. Lynch will probably be selected some time in the later rounds, and it’s unlikely he’ll ever play on the top two lines of an NHL team, but the odds of him making a contribution to an NHL team aren’t that bad considering how late he will be picked. Teams could always use defensively responsible centers, and Lynch may be able to provide that.”

NHL Central Scouting: Rates Lynch as a ‘B’ prospect, which is a player who is estimated to be drafted between the third and fifth rounds in the 2009 NHL Draft.

Honeybaked Head Coach Rob Krohl: “He’s a good two-way player. He was a very consistent player night in and night out. He was good at both ends of the ice.”

Hockey’s Future: “Lynch has underrated offensive skills with quick hands and feet. He will also hit and is a good forechecker.”

U of M Associate Head Coach Mel Pearson: “Kevin Lynch is a really hard-nosed, two-way player. He’s the kind of guy you’d like to have on your team. He’ll play the same whether you’re playing at home or on the road. You know what to expect out of him every game, which is important. He has really good hands too. I don’t think he’s scored as well as maybe he could have at the program. They have him in a little bit different role. He has excellent hands. As he gets closer to the net he’s got better hands. I think he’s a guy who can finish as well as give you a good two-way game.”

Kyle Woodlief, Red Line Report: “Was a two-way demon and key cog in the U.S. winning gold in Fargo. Showed more tenacity and skill than he had all year.”
