2nd Greatest Michigan vs. Penn State Game - 1997

by Lance Callihan 22. October 2009 19:55

The second greatest game in this countdown is simply known as Judgment Day.  Michigan opened the series with a victory in 1993, but Penn State went on to capture the next three games leading up to this match-up in Happy Valley, including Lloyd Carr’s first two games in the series (1995 & ’96). Coming into the game, Penn State was ranked 3rd while Michigan was ranked 4th. The Wolverines dominated the Nittany Lions on this day.

At Penn State, they play a roar through the speakers and the crowds yells on cue, We Are Penn State! UMGoBlue.com Editor-in-Chief Phil Callihan remembers sitting at Penn State in ‘97 and remembering for the entire second half hearing the Wolverines Fans chant We Are Michigan over the home fans chanting We Are Penn State.
