This week we profile Glen Rice. Rice played basketball for the Maize & Blue from ‘85-‘89. He led Michigan to the 1989 NCAA National Championship and earned the Most Outstanding Player of the tournament while scoring a tournament record 184 points. Rice went on to be drafted fourth overall by the Miami Heat.
In the NBA, Rice would go on to score 56 points in a game and win the 3 point contest in ‘95, earn the MVP award for the all star game in ‘97; win a NBA Championship in ‘00 with the Lakers.
In 2005, Rice’s number 41 was retired by Michigan in a ceremony at Crisler Arena. UMGoBlue recognizes Rice as a Wolverine Immortal. He now resides in Miami. His son, Glen Rice Jr., plans to play at Georgia Tech as a freshman next season.
