Sam Webb, Michigan Recruiting Guru, reported in a article for the Detroit News that Warren Mott standout C.J. Olaniyan is close to setting his Top 5 of college choices.
On MSU and U of M: "I get a chance to see them a little bit more than other schools. I've got a little bit more feel for them. It probably gives them a little bit more advantage.
On his 3 visits to U of M: "The first time I went to the junior day, the second time we watched practice, and the third time we went to the spring game. When I went to the spring game I was very impressed by the freshman QB (Tate Forcier). He was doing a lot of good stuff."
On his 4-5 visits to State: "My first time at Michigan State was last summer when I went with my AAU (basketball) coach. The second time was going to junior day. When I first got there the coaches seemed nice enough. They took me aside and talked to me. I think my second time going up there was when they offered me a scholarship. I talked to (Coach Mark) Dantonio and I got a chance to sit down with Coach (Ted) Gill and talk to him. The third time I went up there Coach Gill showed me how he runs his defense."
Does he have a dream team?: "I spent most of my time growing up in Georgia. We just moved up to Michigan five years ago. I grew up a USC fan, but I don't really have a dream offer. I look at every school. I'm basing everything on what I'm looking for in a school and for my needs."
On making a commitment: "What separates them are the coaches, how many players play my position, and playing time. That's going to be the difference. I want to be able to be given a chance to start. I want to take official visits, but I don't know if I'm going to take all of them. (A commitment) could come during the season. I'm not going to set a date. I'm just going to let it happen."
