Sean O’Connell, “This kid needs an offensive line! It’s hard to gauge where he is at because he is often under pressure. That being said, Maty looks like a nice prospect. He obviously does a very good job of getting out of trouble. Although he has a sidearm release, his arm strength is very good. He runs with good power and vision, but is not overly fast. I did not see any spread option being run, they were just lining up five wide and tossing the ball around. Judging by his stats, I’d say that they are primarily a passing team with Mauk sprinkling in runs when he sees an opening. I can’t help but wonder if he’d be a better fit in a passing spread like ND or OU.”

Jon Jennings, “Extremely productive player in his first two seasons of varsity ball.  Mauk has great field awareness and is great when scrambling or running the ball.  He is smart is setting up his blocks and has good vision as a runner.  Has a good arm and is very accurate when passing however his pocket skills must increase.  His drop back can get sloppy at times and he holds the ball very low in the pocket causing him to have a wind up delivery.  Many of his plays on his highlight tape would not work at the next level.”

Mike Mauk, Father & Head Coach: “Maty has been working hard and is showing some signs he’ll be a good passer and runner at the quarterback position, He’s a little bigger and may have a stronger arm than Ben (Mauk) did at this stage of the game.”
