Profile for 2013 U of M Commit Patrick Kugler

Sean O’Connell, UMGoBlog.com: “Michigan landed yet another nasty, nasty offensive lineman in Patrick Kugler. He has a ridiculous motor, fantastic feet and is a very smart football player. If you like your offensive linemen to have a mean streak and play all the way until the whistle blows, Kugler is definitely your type of player.

ANALYSIS

Sean O’Connell, UMGoBlog.com: “Michigan landed yet another nasty, nasty offensive lineman in Patrick Kugler. He has a ridiculous motor, fantastic feet and is a very smart football player. If you like your offensive linemen to have a mean streak and play all the way until the whistle blows, Kugler is definitely your type of player. Usually you take your best offensive lineman and plug him in at the blindside tackle spot, which Patrick plays in high school. Now, take that kid and project him as a center at the next level. If he were rated there, Kugler would likely be rated as the top center in the country. We might be looking at the next great center at Michigan folks.”

Bob Lichtenfels, Scout.com: “Kugler is a technician and he is nasty. He finishes his blocks and always plays to the whistle. He has great feet and gets to the second level as well as anyone. Very dominant at the point of attack. he is equally adept at run blocking and pass protection. He is very cerebral and is rarely in bad position. Very good knee bend and deceptively athletic. Needs to fill out his frame more, but that will come with age and experience.”

Quotes

On his visit to Michigan – “I sat down with Coach Funk and Coach Borges each for about an hour, and we discussed football and the future of Michigan, and what standards Michigan has. Then we took we took a tour of the campus, and I could tell the campus was really nice and I could see myself falling in love with it. And then we went to the Big House, and that is what definitely sold me. I couldn’t imagine playing in front of 110,000 fans per game” –Scout.com
