Profile for 2013 U of M Recruit Laquon Treadwell

Joseph Boyd, UMGoBlog.com: “Big framed WR with great size and strength, doubles as a DE for his HS team which is rare for a WR. Does a great job of shielding the ball and boxing out smaller defenders. Decent route runner but wasn’t asked to run very complex routes. Smooth athlete that easily transitions between speeds. Very good runner after the catch and shows good vision with the ball in his hands. Not a burner and lacks the elite speed and acceleration needed to separate from defenders vertically. Tends to allow the ball to get into his body instead of catching it with his hands. Will make for very good possession receiver and redzone target. Better route running and speed training could turn him into an all-around elite WR but is not at that level yet. As of now Treadwell looks like a taller version of Junior Hemmingway.”

Head Coach Jerry Verde, Crete-Monee H.S.: “He’s an excellent wide receiver. Great hands and what he does after he catches the ball, he can outrun you or he can run you over. In these playoff games, there were times where he caught the ball and ran over everybody on the other side to score a touchdown. Then we put him about week seven at defensive end because were struggling at that position and needed another big body in there, and he ended up getting five quarterback sacks and three forced fumbles where he just takes the ball out of the other guy’s hands. That’s something you can’t teach. He just has that size and tenacity.”

Steve Lorenz, Tremendous UM: “Michigan has been a long time favorite to land the services of Laquon and fill a much needed void in the area of WR depth. Laquon is a speedy receiver with a great build that is capable of making big plays every time he touches the ball. This combination will make him a great outside threat at the next level.”
