Michigan Football Recruiting Update (5/19/2011)

Terry RichardsonRecruiting continues to stay hot for the Wolverines with the commit of Detroit, MI cornerback Terry Richardson. The Cass Tech Technician is the next in line of undersized, but very gifted corners to commit to Michigan. Richardson has very good hips and a nice back pedal. He’ll need a little bulking up, but has the skill set to be a good player. Terry picked Michigan over Alabama, LSU, Notre Dame, Ohio State and USC.

Michigan Football Recruiting Update (5/15/2011)

Mario OjemudiaIt was another very busy week recruiting wise for the Michigan football team. In under a week the Wolverines gained verbals from defensive ends Mario Ojemudia and Pharaoh Brown, as well as defensive end/tackle Matt Godin. Ojemudia was thought to be a Sparty lock for a long time. Up until he visited Michigan, he was. For his Farmington Hills squad Mario had 127 tackles and 12 sacks while playing many positions. Will the third of the FHHS trio drop for Michigan too? Time will tell, but UM has made a HUGE push for Aaron Burbridge. Pharaoh Brown is a kid that oozes potential and should be a prolific pass rusher. Matt Godin is a long time Michigan fan and has the ability to play outside and inside.

The biggest news of the week was probably the verbal pledge of 2013 stud quarterback Shane Morris. The Michigan native will be the #1 prospect in the state next season and more than likely a top 5 quarterback nationally. Morris is very, very polished for a sophomore in high school. You can expect Michigan to still take a quarterback this season, just don’t expect an elite one. Morris is a GREAT start to next season and should attract some top flight talent.

Will things start to slow a little? Probably. The off course there are a few guys out there like Chris Wormley, Aaron Burbridge, Terry Richardson, Ron Thompson and 2013er Wyatt Shallman. I can’t remember a time where Michigan recruiting was this exciting. Mad props to Hoke and crew!

New Offers

Jalen Overstreet – the three star Texas signal caller was offered as a wide receiver this week. Nice looking athlete, lots of skill.

Michigan Football Recruiting Update (4/8/11)

Scout.com recently released its top 300 prospects list for the 2012 class. Below is a list of kids who have expressed interest in Michigan and where we stand.

QUARTERBACKS

Gunner Kiel (#1 QB, #17 overall) – has an offer. ND lean? Not sure about his interest level in Michigan, but if Maty Mauk were to commit to ND first that could open things up.

Zeke Pike (#3 , #25) – has visited. Michigan is high on his list.

Maty Mauk (#5, #116) – has visited. Another ND lean? If not, Michigan is right up there.

Bennie Coney (#22, NR) – Coney just missed the top 300 and is a offer from RR and crew. There was still some interest a while back, but I would imagine he is further down the big board of QB’s.

RUNNING BACKS

Keith Marshall (#1 RB, #5 overall) – A kid everybody wants. Recently narrowed his list to around 12 schools, with Michigan being one of them.

Bri’onte Dunn (#4, #28) – an OSU verbal, but will visit Michigan at some point.

Wes Brown (#6, #44) – will be visiting for the spring game with Good Counsel teammates.

Greg Garmon (#11, #65) – could play other positions at 6’2", but most schools want him at RB. There is Michigan interest, but has stated he would like to play in the south.

WIDE RECEIVERS

Dorial Green-Beckham (#1 WR, #2 overall) – Dorial is an absolute freak of nature and will be a very tough get. The only reason I put him in here is because he and Zeke Pike have been talking. I can dream right??

Stefon Diggs (#2 S, #16 ) – Scout projects Diggs as a safety, but most schools want him at wide out. He will be visiting for the spring game.

Aaron Burbridge (#11, #84) – most think he is a Sparty lean, but you never know.

Dwayne Stanford (#16, #106) – grew up watching Michigan and seems pretty open.

Malik Gilmore (#40, #259) – seems to be intrigued by Michigan and Notre Dame and is open.
