The Blueprint to Filling Out the 2013 Class

Michigan currently has 18 commits for its 2013 recruiting class and with the recent departure of Chris Rock, look for the Wolverines to sign anywhere between 22 and 24 prospects. So with 5 or so spots remaining here are some of the positions and prospects to keep an eye on during the upcoming months.

Ty IsaacDerrick Green - UMGoBlue

At one point it seemed that Michigan had a pretty sizable lead in the Isaac Sweepstakes, but he has recently committed to USC. Visiting a school that far away twice on your own dime should’ve told you that his interest in the Trojans was/is quite serious. I know that there are people out there that believe DeVeon Smith’s pledge was a deciding factor with Ty, but it wasn’t. You all know that SC is about to get another very good back in Justin Davis right?

Derrick Green

Its pretty obvious that the Michigan coaches want Isaac as the second back in this class. I happen to like Green just as much and would seem to make the perfect plan B. There have been a lot of fluff about Green favoring certain schools, but he recently cleared up some of those rumors. It will be interesting to see how this one plays out over the coming months.

Jordan Wilkins

Seems like an option now, we’ll see if he visits.

Scott Pagano Update

Michigan is the latest school to offer defensive tackle Scott Pagano. Pagano was offered on Saturday and Michigan joined schools such as Arizona, Arkansas, Oregon State, Oregon, Arizona State, Cal, Nebraska, Pittsburgh, Utah and UCLA on his offer list. The offer came as a surprise and kind of a shock to Pagano because Michigan is so far from Hawaii. Before you freak out about that comment, Pagano says that distance doesn’t matter to him. Wolverine staff member Jerry Montgomery delivered the good news to Pagano and they spoke briefly about what they liked in him.

Before you freak out about that comment, Pagano says that distance doesn’t matter to him. Wolverine staff member Jerry Montgomery delivered the good news to Pagano and they spoke briefly about what they liked in him.

“Coach Montgomery said that he loved watching my film,” Pagano said. “He liked the way I moved, and that I have great strength and pretty good speed for a defensive tackle. Another thing that they liked is my motor. I play through the whistle and I’m always in pursuit of the ball carrier. Coach Montgomery said that he is going to try and make it out here this spring.”

Even though Pagano hasn’t announced any favorites or leaders, his new Michigan offer made quite the impression on him.

“I felt pretty good about the offer, even though it came as a shock,” Pagano said. “It truly is a good school, and I have a high amount of interest in them. Overall, I’m excited about the offer and the opportunity to learn more about Michigan.”

Pagano plans on taking summer visits to Oregon and Oregon State. A trip to Michigan is likely to happen during the fall, on an official visit.

“Michigan is a great school and they have a great football program as well,” Pagano said. “I’d like to do more research on them and learn more about the school. As well as getting to talk to the coaches some more.”

Pagano had a pretty spectacular junior season accumulating 72 tackles, a little more than 30 tackles for loss, five sacks, two fumble recoveries, and three forced fumbles. Pagano is a three-star on 247Sports and currently holds twelve offers.
